Vitagraph Studios

Vitagraph Studios was an American motion-picture company founded in 1897 by J. Stuart Blackton and Albert E. Smith. It became one of the leading producers and distributors of films in the silent era.

J. Stuart Blackton: J. Stuart Blackton was a British-born American filmmaker, animator, and co-founder of Vitagraph Studios. He co-founded Vitagraph and directed some of its earliest films.
Silent film: Silent film is motion-picture cinema whose images are not accompanied by synchronized spoken dialogue. Vitagraph made most of its films before synchronized dialogue became standard.
