Voluntary association

A voluntary association is an organization whose members join by free choice rather than legal or institutional compulsion. Members cooperate around shared interests, aims, or activities.

Membership: The status and rights of belonging to a group or organization. Joining by choice makes membership the defining relationship in this kind of organization.
