Walker Evans

Walker Evans (1903–1975) was an American photographer whose restrained images documented ordinary life, vernacular architecture, and the effects of the Great Depression.

Let Us Now Praise Famous Men: A 1941 book by James Agee and Walker Evans combining prose and photographs about tenant farmers in Alabama. Its photographs of the Burroughs family became among Evans’s most influential documentary work.
Documentary Photography: Photography made to record people, places, or events as evidence or social observation. Evans’s practice helped establish documentary photography as an art with a distinct visual language.
