Wally Schirra

Wally Schirra was an American astronaut and naval aviator who flew in the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. He commanded Apollo 7, the first crewed Apollo mission.

Mercury-Atlas 8: The 1962 crewed Mercury mission in which Wally Schirra orbited Earth six times aboard Sigma 7. Schirra's first spaceflight demonstrated precise spacecraft control and endurance in orbit.
