Walter Payton

Walter Payton (1954–1999) was an American football running back who played for the Chicago Bears from 1975 to 1987. He set numerous NFL rushing records and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.

Mike Ditka: Mike Ditka is a former NFL tight end, coach, and broadcaster who led the Chicago Bears from 1982 to 1992. Ditka coached Payton during the Bears’ 1985 championship season.
1985 Chicago Bears season: The Chicago Bears’ 1985 season ended with a 46–10 victory in Super Bowl XX. Payton was the team’s leading running back during its championship season.
NFL rushing yards record: The NFL rushing yards record tracks the most career rushing yards in regular-season games. Payton held the career record from 1984 until Emmitt Smith surpassed it in 2002.
