Wayne Shorter

Wayne Shorter (1933–2023) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer whose work reshaped hard bop, post-bop, and jazz fusion. He wrote enduring standards and helped define the sound of both Miles Davis’s quintet and Weather Report.

Miles Davis: Miles Davis was an American trumpeter and bandleader who shaped several major styles of modern jazz. Shorter joined Davis’s second great quintet and later co-founded the jazz fusion group Miles Davis led.
Speak No Evil: Speak No Evil is a 1966 Wayne Shorter album recorded for Blue Note Records. Its compositions and ensemble playing crystallize Shorter’s distinctive post-bop language.

Footprints: “Footprints” is a Wayne Shorter jazz composition first recorded on his 1966 album Adam’s Apple. Its shifting blues and waltz-like feel made it one of Shorter’s most frequently played pieces.
