Web accessibility is the practice of designing and building websites and digital tools so people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and use them.

Web Content Accessibility Guidelines: International guidelines for making web content more accessible to people with disabilities. Their success criteria provide the main framework for evaluating accessible web content.
Alternative text: A textual description that conveys the purpose or content of an image when the image cannot be perceived. It gives screen-reader users access to meaningful information carried by images.

Web navigation: The methods and interface structures used to move through a website and locate its content. Clear landmarks, headings, and link labels help people orient themselves and move efficiently.
Screen reader: Software that presents digital content through speech or braille output. Screen-reader testing checks whether structure, controls, and content are programmatically available.
Inclusive design: An approach that considers diverse people and circumstances throughout design and development. It broadens accessibility work into a wider process of anticipating human variation.
Semantic HTML: HTML that uses elements according to their meaning and purpose, such as headings, lists, and buttons. Semantic elements expose structure and control roles that assistive technologies can interpret.
Color contrast: The difference in perceived brightness between foreground and background colors. Adequate contrast keeps text and controls distinguishable for people with low vision.
