Wendell Meredith Stanley

Wendell Meredith Stanley was an American biochemist and virologist who crystallized tobacco mosaic virus and shared the 1946 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for research on viruses.

Tobacco mosaic virus: A plant virus that infects tobacco and other plants, causing distinctive mosaic patterns on leaves. Stanley’s work isolated and crystallized this virus, making it central to his scientific legacy.
