Werner Arber

Werner Arber is a Swiss microbiologist whose work showed that bacteria use restriction enzymes to defend against foreign DNA. He shared the 1978 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for discovering restriction enzymes and their role in molecular genetics.
