West African Ebola epidemic

The 2013–2016 Ebola virus disease outbreak that began in Guinea and spread chiefly to Liberia and Sierra Leone, causing more than 11,000 deaths.

Ebola virus disease: A severe illness caused by ebolaviruses, transmitted through contact with infected bodily fluids and tissues. The disease’s person-to-person transmission drove the epidemic’s spread.
