West Bank

A landlocked territory west of the Jordan River, claimed by Palestinians and occupied by Israel since 1967. Its status and borders remain central to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

1948 Arab–Israeli War: A war fought in 1947–1949 between Jewish and Arab forces in Mandatory Palestine and neighboring states. The war left the West Bank under Jordanian control after the 1949 armistice.
