WhatsApp is an internet-based messaging service for text, voice, and video communication. It supports individual and group conversations, media sharing, and end-to-end encrypted personal messages.

Signal: A messaging service focused on private communication and end-to-end encryption. Signal is a privacy-focused alternative with a different ownership and data model.
Digital privacy: The protection and control of personal information in digital systems and communications. WhatsApp's encryption and metadata practices place it at the center of privacy debates.
