Whirligig beetle

A water beetle in the family Gyrinidae that swims rapidly across the surface, often in circles. Its divided eyes let it see above and below the waterline at once.

Divided eyes: Eyes with distinct regions adapted to view different parts of the visual environment. Each eye has upper and lower regions for seeing above and below the waterline.
Gyrinidae: A family of aquatic beetles commonly called whirligig beetles. This is the family to which whirligig beetles belong.
