Wilhelm Maybach

Wilhelm Maybach (1846–1929) was a German engineer and automobile designer who worked with Gottlieb Daimler, co-founded Maybach, and helped develop early Mercedes cars.

Gottlieb Daimler: A German engineer and industrialist who pioneered high-speed internal-combustion engines and motor vehicles. Maybach worked with Daimler for decades, developing engines and vehicles together.
Grandfather clock engine: A compact vertical-cylinder internal-combustion engine developed by Daimler and Maybach in the 1880s. Its high speed and light construction advanced their vision of engines for vehicles.
Bruderhaus Reutlingen: A charitable institution in Reutlingen, Germany, that trained and employed orphaned children and young people. Maybach grew up there and received technical training before becoming an engineer.

Mercedes Simplex: A series of Mercedes automobiles introduced in 1902, developed from the Mercedes 35 hp. Maybach refined the pioneering 35 hp design into a successful model range.
Karl Maybach: A German engineer who led the Maybach engine and automobile company after its founder Wilhelm Maybach. Wilhelm’s son continued the family’s engineering and manufacturing work.
Belt-driven Daimler: A 1895 automobile powered by a front-mounted engine transmitting power through belts. Maybach designed this vehicle as an early practical application of Daimler engine technology.
