Will Eisner

Will Eisner (1917–2005) was an American cartoonist, writer, and publisher whose work on The Spirit and A Contract with God helped shape modern comics and graphic novels.

The Spirit: A masked crime-fighting character created by Will Eisner, featured in a newspaper comic-book insert from 1940 to 1952. Eisner’s signature series used cinematic layouts and expressive storytelling.
