William D. Leahy

William D. Leahy was a U.S. Navy fleet admiral who served as chief of staff to President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II and chaired the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Franklin D. Roosevelt: The 32nd president of the United States, who led the country through most of the Great Depression and World War II. Leahy served as Roosevelt’s chief of staff and advised him on wartime strategy.
Chief of Staff to the President of the United States: The senior assistant who manages a U.S. president’s staff and coordinates executive-office work. Leahy held this wartime role, giving him direct access to Roosevelt and a coordinating position.
