Wolfdog

A canid produced by breeding a domestic dog with a wolf, or a dog with recent wolf ancestry. Wolfdogs vary widely in appearance, behavior, and wolf ancestry.

Gray wolf: A large wild canid native to Eurasia and North America, and the ancestor of domestic dogs. The wolf parent supplies one lineage in wolfdog ancestry.
Hybrid vigor: Improved health or performance sometimes seen in offspring from genetically distinct populations. Crossing wolf and dog lineages can alter inherited variation, though benefits are not guaranteed.
