Wolfe Tone

Theobald Wolfe Tone (1763–1798) was an Irish revolutionary who helped found the Society of United Irishmen and sought French support for Irish independence.

Henry Joy McCracken: An Irish republican who led the United Irishmen in the 1798 rising in County Antrim. He led the northern rebellion that Tone’s organizing helped prepare.
Society of United Irishmen: An Irish republican organization founded in 1791 to unite Catholics and Protestants in pursuit of parliamentary reform and independence. Tone helped establish the organization that became the rebellion’s chief political network.
