Wolfgang Pauli

Wolfgang Pauli (1900–1958) was an Austrian-born theoretical physicist whose work shaped quantum mechanics, especially through the exclusion principle and the neutrino hypothesis.

Quantum mechanics: The physical theory describing matter and radiation through states, probabilities, and quantized observables. Pauli helped establish its formal structure and interpret its rules.
Pauli exclusion principle: The rule that identical fermions cannot occupy the same quantum state simultaneously. Pauli formulated this principle in 1925 to explain electron arrangements in atoms.
Arnold Sommerfeld: A German theoretical physicist who advanced atomic theory and trained many influential physicists. Sommerfeld supervised Pauli’s doctoral work and introduced him to problems in atomic physics.
