Women's major golf championships

The major championships are the most prestigious annual tournaments in professional women's golf. The LPGA Tour currently recognizes five, while other tours and historical periods have used different major lists.

Chevron Championship: An LPGA major championship first played in 1972 and known for its former Dinah Shore and ANA Inspiration names. It opens the LPGA major season and is traditionally associated with a final-round leap into a water hazard.
Ladies Professional Golf Association: The principal U.S.-based professional golf organization for women, founded in 1950. The LPGA defines the current five-major schedule and sanctions most of its events.

LPGA Tour: A leading professional golf tour for women, founded in 1950 and based in the United States. Its official major designation differs from classifications used by other tours.
Women's major championship records: Historical records of victories, scoring, and other achievements in women's golf's recognized major tournaments. Major wins form a central measure of career distinction, despite changing event lists.
KPMG Women's PGA Championship: An LPGA major championship founded in 1955 as the LPGA Championship. Its long history and partnership with the PGA of America distinguish it among the majors.
