Word painting

Word painting is the use of musical features to suggest or illustrate words, images, or actions in a text. It is also called text painting or musical illustration.

Word–tone relation: The relationship between verbal meaning and musical sound in vocal music. Word painting makes this relationship unusually direct by matching musical gestures to textual details.
