Workweek and weekend

The recurring division of a week into days typically devoted to work and days typically reserved for rest or leisure. Its boundaries vary by culture, religion, occupation, and labor law.

Sabbath: A recurring day of religious rest and worship observed in Judaism and some Christian traditions. The weekly rest day helped establish a recurring alternative to work.
Work schedule: An organized pattern specifying when a person is expected to work. A workweek is a recurring pattern within the broader organization of working hours.
Four-day workweek: A schedule that condenses or reduces work into four days per week. It challenges the assumption that a standard workweek requires five workdays.
