XY gonadal dysgenesis

XY gonadal dysgenesis is a disorder of sex development in which impaired testicular development leaves gonads underdeveloped or nonfunctional. Its presentation varies with the degree of gonadal function and the underlying cause.

SRY gene: A Y-chromosome gene whose protein initiates the testicular developmental pathway in most embryos. Changes affecting SRY can prevent the early signal that normally directs XY gonads toward testicular development.
