Yakubu Gowon

Yakubu Gowon is a Nigerian military officer and politician who served as head of state from 1966 to 1975, leading Nigeria during the Nigerian Civil War.

Nigerian Civil War: A war fought from 1967 to 1970 between Nigeria and the secessionist state of Biafra. Gowon led Nigeria’s federal government throughout the conflict and proclaimed its end in 1970.
