Yemeni Revolution

The 2011 uprising against President Ali Abdullah Saleh that led to his transfer of power under a Gulf-brokered political agreement.

Ali Abdullah Saleh: Yemeni president from 1990 to 2012, whose rule ended after the 2011 uprising. The protests targeted his long presidency and pressed him to leave office.
Yemeni Unification: The 1990 merger of North Yemen and South Yemen into the Republic of Yemen. The unified state’s contested political order framed grievances preceding the uprising.
