Yinchuan

Yinchuan is the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in north-central China, on the Yellow River. It is a regional center shaped by river irrigation, Hui Muslim heritage, and its position along historic routes between China and Central Asia.

Western Xia: A Tangut-led empire that ruled parts of northwestern China from 1038 to 1227. Yinchuan served as the Western Xia capital, known then as Xingqing.
Yellow River: China’s second-longest river, flowing from the Tibetan Plateau to the Bohai Sea. Its waters support the plain and agriculture around Yinchuan.
Hui people: A Chinese ethnic group whose communities are predominantly Muslim and dispersed across China. Hui residents form a substantial part of Yinchuan’s population and cultural life.
