Young Earth creationism

Young Earth creationism holds that Earth and life originated only thousands of years ago, commonly interpreting the biblical creation account as a direct historical description.

Genesis creation narrative: The opening biblical account of God creating the heavens, Earth, and life. Many young-Earth creationists read its creation days as a chronological account of Earth's formation.
Old Earth creationism: The belief that God created the universe over billions of years, often through processes described by science. It accepts an ancient Earth while retaining divine creation.
