Knowra Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau The Yunnan–Guizhou Plateau is a highland region of southwestern China spanning Yunnan and Guizhou provinces, marked by rugged terrain, deep valleys, and extensive karst.
Karst : A landscape shaped by the dissolution of soluble rock, especially limestone, producing features such as caves and sinkholes. Limestone dissolution creates the plateau’s distinctive tower karst, sinkholes, and underground drainage.
Guizhou karst : The extensive limestone landscapes of Guizhou, including peaks, depressions, caves, and underground rivers. Guizhou contains some of the plateau’s most dramatic and densely developed karst terrain.
Stone Forest : A karst landscape near Kunming in Yunnan, famous for tall limestone formations resembling a forest of stone. It is one of the plateau’s best-known examples of limestone erosion.
