Zhores Alferov

Zhores Alferov was a Soviet and Russian physicist who pioneered semiconductor heterostructures. His work on heterostructures for optoelectronics and high-speed electronics earned him the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Herbert Kroemer: A German-American physicist whose theoretical work on semiconductor heterostructures shared the 2000 Nobel Prize in Physics. Kroemer independently developed the heterostructure ideas recognized alongside Alferov’s experimental work.
