Ziaur Rahman

Ziaur Rahman (1936–1981) was a Bangladeshi military officer and politician who served as president from 1977 until his assassination and founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Bangladesh Liberation War: The 1971 conflict that ended Pakistani rule in East Pakistan and established Bangladesh. Rahman served as a military officer in the war and became a prominent independence broadcaster.
