Knowra Zibo Zibo Zibo is a prefecture-level city in central Shandong, China. Its territory includes the ancient state of Qi’s capital, Linzi, and has a long history of ceramic production.
State of Qi : A major eastern Zhou dynasty state based in present-day Shandong, influential in early Chinese politics and culture. Qi’s political center stood at Linzi, within present-day Zibo.
Shandong : A coastal province in eastern China, situated on the Yellow Sea and the Bohai Sea. Zibo is one of Shandong’s prefecture-level cities.
Chinese ceramics : Ceramic wares made in China, including pottery, porcelain, and stoneware across many historical periods. Zibo’s ceramic production belongs to this long national tradition.
Tomb of the Marquis of Haihun : A Western Han tomb in Jiangxi notable for its exceptionally rich finds and identification of Liu He. Unlike Zibo’s Qi-era remains, this tomb illustrates a different regional center of early imperial history.
Linzi : An ancient city in Shandong that served as the capital of the state of Qi. Linzi is the best-known ancient urban site within Zibo.
Prefecture-level city : A Chinese administrative division that governs districts and county-level jurisdictions. This is Zibo’s formal administrative status.
Porcelain : A hard, vitrified ceramic made from selected clays and fired at high temperatures. Porcelain is among the ceramic products associated with Zibo.
Linzi Ancient City : The archaeological remains of the ancient urban center that served as Qi’s capital. Its walls and settlement remains anchor Zibo’s account of ancient statehood.
Duke Huan of Qi : A seventh-century BCE ruler of Qi who became the first of the Five Hegemons in traditional accounts. His reign made Qi, centered at Linzi, a leading power.
Zhangdian District : A district of Zibo that serves as the city’s administrative and commercial center. Zhangdian is the seat of Zibo’s municipal government.
