Zimbabwe African People's Union

Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) was a Zimbabwean nationalist party led by Joshua Nkomo, active in the struggle against white-minority rule and in post-independence politics.

Joshua Nkomo: Joshua Nkomo was a Zimbabwean nationalist leader who headed ZAPU and later served as vice president. He led ZAPU through the liberation struggle and its early post-independence years.
Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army: The Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA) was the armed wing of ZAPU during the liberation struggle. ZIPRA carried out ZAPU's military campaign against Rhodesian rule.
Gukurahundi: Gukurahundi was a campaign of state violence in Matabeleland and parts of the Midlands in Zimbabwe during the 1980s. The campaign targeted areas where ZAPU retained substantial support and devastated its political base.
