Zoe Porphyrogenita

Zoe Porphyrogenita (c. 978–1050) was a Byzantine empress of the Macedonian dynasty who ruled in 1042 and shared imperial power with three successive husbands.

Romanos III Argyros: Byzantine emperor from 1028 to 1034 and Zoe’s first husband. Their marriage made Romanos emperor and began Zoe’s direct role in imperial rule.
Macedonian dynasty: A Byzantine ruling dynasty that held power from 867 to 1056. Zoe belonged to its final generation and inherited legitimacy from its imperial line.
