2021 Myanmar coup d'état

The military seizure of power in Myanmar on 1 February 2021, which ousted the elected government and detained its leaders.

2008 Constitution of Myanmar: Myanmar’s constitution, adopted under military rule, reserved key powers and parliamentary seats for the armed forces. Its military-assigned seats and security ministries gave the armed forces enduring political leverage before the coup.
