Abul Kalam Azad

Abul Kalam Azad was an Indian scholar, journalist, independence activist, and politician who served as independent India’s first minister of education from 1947 to 1958.

Mahatma Gandhi: Mahatma Gandhi was an Indian anticolonial leader who advanced nonviolent resistance and mass political mobilization. Azad worked closely with Gandhi and supported nonviolent campaigns against British rule.
Mecca: Mecca is a city in present-day Saudi Arabia and Islam’s holiest site. Azad was born in Mecca in 1888 before his family returned to India.
Ministry of Education (India): The Ministry of Education is the Indian government department responsible for national education policy. Azad led the ministry from independence until his death in 1958.

Indian National Congress: The Indian National Congress is a political party founded in 1885 that led India’s independence movement. Azad served as Congress president and helped guide the party during the final years of British rule.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah: Muhammad Ali Jinnah was a leader of the All-India Muslim League and Pakistan’s founder. Jinnah’s demand for Pakistan sharply diverged from Azad’s opposition to partition.
Al-Balagh: Al-Balagh was an Urdu-language newspaper founded by Abul Kalam Azad in 1915. Azad continued his political and religious writing after the British suppressed Al-Hilal.
