Aceh War

The Aceh War was a protracted conflict between the Netherlands and the Sultanate of Aceh in northern Sumatra, beginning with a Dutch invasion in 1873 and continuing through decades of Acehnese resistance.

Dutch invasion of Aceh: The Netherlands’ 1873 military assault on the Sultanate of Aceh, which began the Aceh War. The invasion opened the conflict but failed to secure lasting Dutch control.
