Aisin Gioro

Aisin Gioro is a Manchu clan that founded the Later Jin and Qing dynasties and supplied China’s emperors from 1644 to 1912.

Jurchens: Jurchens were Tungusic-speaking peoples of northeastern Asia, ancestors of the Manchus. Aisin Gioro emerged among Jurchen communities before the Manchu identity and Qing empire took shape.
Qing dynasty: The Qing dynasty ruled China from 1644 to 1912 and expanded its territory across Inner Asia. Aisin Gioro emperors governed through this dynasty for nearly three centuries.
Dorgon: Dorgon was a Qing prince and regent who led the conquest of Beijing in 1644. His regency helped secure Aisin Gioro rule in China after the Ming collapse.
Transition from Ming to Qing: The transition from Ming to Qing was the seventeenth-century conquest that established Qing rule over China. It brought Aisin Gioro from a northeastern ruling house to the imperial throne in Beijing.
Nurhaci: Nurhaci was the Jurchen leader who unified rival groups and founded the Later Jin state. He established Aisin Gioro power and initiated the dynasty later renamed Qing.
Hong Taiji: Hong Taiji was Nurhaci’s son and successor, who renamed the state Qing and the people Manchu. His reign transformed his father’s clan state into an imperial dynasty.
Yongzheng Emperor: The Yongzheng Emperor ruled the Qing from 1722 to 1735 and strengthened central administration. His reforms show how an Aisin Gioro ruler tightened control over the imperial state.
Qing conquest of China: The Qing conquest of China was a military campaign that replaced Ming authority with Qing rule during the seventeenth century. The conquest made Aisin Gioro rulers of the former Ming heartland.
Later Jin: Later Jin was the state founded by Nurhaci in 1616 as a successor to earlier Jurchen rule. It was the first dynastic state ruled by the Aisin Gioro clan.
Kangxi Emperor: The Kangxi Emperor ruled the Qing from 1661 to 1722, consolidating its authority and territorial reach. His long reign established the dynasty’s authority under Aisin Gioro rule.
