Alborz

The Alborz is a mountain range in northern Iran, south of the Caspian Sea. It includes Mount Damavand, Iran’s highest peak.

Mount Damavand: A volcanic mountain in the Alborz and the highest peak in Iran. Its summit marks the range’s highest point and dominates its central skyline.
Orographic lift: The upward movement of air forced by terrain, often producing clouds and precipitation on a mountain’s windward side. Moist air from the Caspian rises over the Alborz and produces heavy precipitation on northern slopes.

Hyrcanian Forests: Ancient temperate forests around the southern Caspian Sea, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage property. Their mountain foothill habitats preserve distinctive plant communities along the Alborz.
