Alexandros Papagos

Alexandros Papagos was a Greek army officer and politician who led Greece’s armed forces during the Greco-Italian War and Greek Civil War, then served as prime minister from 1952 to 1955.

Ioannis Metaxas: A Greek army officer and authoritarian politician who governed Greece from 1936 until his death in 1941. As prime minister during the Italian invasion, Metaxas worked with Papagos on Greece’s wartime defense.
