Algonquian languages

Algonquian is a family of Indigenous languages historically spoken across eastern and central North America, from the Atlantic coast to the Great Plains.

Proto-Algonquian: The reconstructed ancestral language from which the Algonquian languages descend. Its reconstructed vocabulary and grammar provide the family’s common point of comparison.
Ojibwe language: An Algonquian language spoken around the Great Lakes and in parts of Canada and the United States. Ojibwe is one of the family’s major living languages, with active teaching and revitalization.
