Allan Kaprow

Allan Kaprow (1927–2006) was an American artist and educator who pioneered happenings, participatory events that blurred the boundaries between art and everyday life.

Happening: A loosely scripted art event that uses actions, places, and participants rather than a conventional art object. Kaprow developed happenings as a form in which audiences could act within the artwork.
