Augsburg

A city in Bavaria, Germany, founded as the Roman settlement Augusta Vindelicorum. Its history includes medieval merchant wealth, Renaissance architecture, and the 1555 Peace of Augsburg.

Augusta Vindelicorum: The Roman settlement established at the site of present-day Augsburg, later a regional administrative center. This Roman settlement was Augsburg’s ancient predecessor and gave the city its Latin name.
