Battle of Königsberg

A Soviet offensive fought from 6 to 9 April 1945 that captured Königsberg, the German stronghold and capital of East Prussia, during World War II.

Königsberg Fortress: A system of forts, walls, and defensive positions surrounding Königsberg. Its layered defenses shaped the Soviet assault and the city’s surrender.
East Prussian Offensive: A Soviet campaign from January to April 1945 to conquer East Prussia and defeat German forces there. Königsberg’s capture was a central objective within this wider campaign.
Alexander Vasilevsky: A Soviet military commander who led the Third Belorussian Front in the East Prussian campaign. He directed the Soviet forces that assaulted Königsberg.
