Battle of Maysalun

The Battle of Maysalun was a July 1920 clash in which French forces defeated troops of the Arab Kingdom of Syria near Maysalun, enabling France to occupy Damascus and impose its mandate.

Arab Kingdom of Syria: A short-lived Arab state ruled from Damascus by King Faisal I from 1918 to 1920. Its government and army resisted the French advance that ended at Maysalun.
