Sultanate of Bijapur

The Sultanate of Bijapur was a Deccan kingdom ruled by the Adil Shahi dynasty from 1490 until its annexation by the Mughal Empire in 1686.

Yusuf Adil Shah: The founder of the Adil Shahi dynasty who established independent rule at Bijapur in 1490. His break with Bahmani authority founded the sultanate.
Ibrahim Adil Shah II: The Adil Shahi ruler of Bijapur from 1580 to 1627, remembered as a patron of art and music. His long reign brought cultural patronage and a distinctive policy of political accommodation.
