Buffalo, New York

Buffalo is a city in western New York at the eastern end of Lake Erie. Its location helped make it a major Great Lakes port and industrial center.

Erie Canal: A 19th-century canal connecting the Hudson River at Albany with Lake Erie at Buffalo. Its 1825 opening connected Buffalo to Atlantic trade and accelerated the city's growth.
