Carl Friedrich Gauss

Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777–1855) was a German mathematician, astronomer, and physicist whose work shaped number theory, statistics, geodesy, and electromagnetism.

Number theory: The study of integers and their properties, including divisibility, primes, and congruences. Gauss transformed the subject with systematic results on congruences and quadratic forms.
Ceres (dwarf planet): The largest object in the asteroid belt, discovered by Giuseppe Piazzi in 1801. Gauss calculated its orbit from limited observations, helping recover the newly discovered body.
