Knowra Carl Linnaeus Carl Linnaeus Carl Linnaeus (1707–1778) was a Swedish botanist and zoologist who formalized the two-part scientific naming of species and organized organisms into a hierarchical classification system.
Binomial nomenclature : A system that gives each species a two-part scientific name, combining its genus name with a specific epithet. Linnaeus made this naming system central to the classification of organisms.
Systema Naturae : Linnaeus’s work that presented a hierarchical classification of the natural world and underwent many editions. It is the principal publication through which he revised and circulated his system.
