Charismatic authority

Charismatic authority is legitimacy grounded in followers’ belief that a leader possesses exceptional qualities or a sacred calling. It depends on recognition by followers rather than solely on tradition or formal rules.

Max Weber: Max Weber was a German sociologist whose work shaped modern theories of social action, power, and authority. He defined charismatic authority as one of three ideal types of legitimate domination.
Traditional authority: Traditional authority is legitimacy grounded in established customs and inherited practices. Unlike charisma, its claim to obedience rests on the sanctity of long-standing custom.
