Chola dynasty

The Chola dynasty was a Tamil ruling house whose power in southern India and Sri Lanka peaked between the ninth and thirteenth centuries. Its rulers built a strong state, expanded overseas, and patronized distinctive temples and bronze sculpture.

Chola administration: The institutions and practices through which Chola rulers governed territory, collected revenue, and managed local affairs. Royal authority worked through officials and village assemblies rather than a single uniform bureaucracy.
